Elevated cholesterol levels, specifically total and LDL cholesterol, are another health effect attributed to certain PFAS. Further, there’s an observed association between PFAS exposure and ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease. Changes in immune response, including diminished vaccine efficacy and greater infection susceptibility, have also been reported. Veterans who have had contact with these chemicals and are experiencing health concerns are strongly advised to seek medical advice and discuss their exposure history with healthcare professionals.
