Specially Adapted Housing Program for Veterans
The VA’s Specially Adapted Housing Program (SAH) provides grants to Veterans and service members with certain service-connected disabilities to buy or change a home to meet their needs. Created in 1948, the SAH program administers grants to Veterans with certain severe service-connected conditions such as loss of limb or blindness. The grant can be used by the Veteran to build a permanent home or adapt their current home in order for the the home to be more accessible to the Veteran.
To qualify for the SAH program the Veteran must have one of the following:
The loss, or loss of use, of more than one limb
