If you’ve read my blogs in the past, you may have seen me mention that I am an associate member of the P.L. Wilson Marine Corps League here in Mobile, where I am surrounded by many remarkable Marines and service members from other branches of the military. I was lucky enough to be introduced to these people several years ago through my work as a Veterans’ disability attorney.  But I joined the MCL because they quickly became my friends and heroes.

I feel privileged to listen to their stories.  We laugh together – one of our Marines says that he holds the rank of an E19!  He was promoted and busted down so many times it equals out!  I rejoice in their good news and feel heartache for their losses.  They followed my son’s journey through preparation for boot camp (giving him good AND not-so-good advice) and celebrated when he graduated to become a Sailor.
