Three words I hear a lot these days when dealing with a Social Security Disability claim are Covid, closings, and confusions. The days of getting in your car and driving to the Social Security office to file a claim or get information ended last year.  And the reopening date for Social Security offices is unknown. To file a claim at this time, you have to call the Social Security office.  This usually means sitting on hold for a long wait to talk to someone.  And that is if you are not disconnected after holding for 10-20 minutes. If you have worked 5 of the last 10 years, you should be eligible for a Disability Insurance claim based on your work credits.  Those claims can be filed online.
