COVID, CLOSINGS, AND CONFUSIONS
Three words I hear a lot these days when dealing with a Social Security Disability claim are Covid, closings, and confusions. The days of getting in your car and driving to the Social Security office to file a claim or get information ended last year. And the reopening date for Social Security offices is unknown. However, do not let Covid or closings cause you confusion or dismay. Gardberg and Kemmerly is here to help. You can all us at 251-343-1111. Additionally, even though you can not stop by the Social Security offices, our office is open. Wear a mask, wash your hands and come on in! We are here to help and answer your questions. We will do our best to get your claim filed.
To file a claim at this time, you have to call the Social Security office. This usually means sitting on hold for a long wait to talk to someone. And that is if you are not disconnected after holding for 10-20 minutes. If you have worked 5 of the last 10 years, you should be eligible for a Disability Insurance claim based on your work credits. Those claims can be filed online.
