Memorial Day 2022
This coming Monday, May 30, 2022, we have the opportunity to honor those men and women who died while serving our country in the various branches of the U.S. military. Memorial Day has been a tradition since soon after the Civil War and was originally known as Decoration Day. Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in 1971.
While Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer for many, it truly serves as a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by so many to provide us with the freedom to enjoy our everyday lives without worry or concern about our safety. Many of us will visit cemeteries or memorials honoring these brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, while others will spend the day with friends and family. However you observe Memorial Day, be sure to devote time and energy to thinking about, praying for, and talking about those who are not able to be present alongside their friends and family.
